Understanding the challenges faced by wool farmers, is something AHD ltd is familiar with.
To assist the wool industry, AHD Ltd first introduced Fadeaway aerosol sheep marker that doesn’t stain the wool and is 100% wool scourable, and have recently introduced a new product, natural wool wrap bandages for horses.
These bandages are crafted by sustainably sourced wool supplied by sheep farmers, ensuring that these wraps are both eco-friendly and of the highest quality.
A joint discussion between Richard Kettle and Julia Hyslop of AHD, a three month turn around, trials by vets, riders, and a racehorse trainer, led to AHD producing a natural wool wrap for the equine market just over a month ago.
AHD know their wool and believe farmers deserve better returns for their efforts, which is why for every kilo of wool used in this product, returns to the farmer 32% more than the market price. This translates to $5 per kilo, a significant increase over the average rate for crossbred fleece of $3.80 per kilo.
What are the benefits of natural wool wraps?
You only have to ask, shearers, trampers or anyone who chooses to wear wool, about the valuable to wear wool, about the valuable properties associated with natural wool. Wool is a remarkable insulator, can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet, draws moisture away from the skin, breathable over long periods making it comfortable to wear, odour resistant, durable, soft and comfortable, and being biodegradable, doesn’t contribute to landfill waste in the same way synthetic materials do.
Having a good wool wrap in your first aid kit, stable or tack room can certainly save you time and worry when something unexpected arises.
It is one of those better safe than sorry items we all need, that can really be effective in an emergency.
ADH’s natural wool wrap is simple, effective, easy to use and can be washed and reused which makes it a cost-effective option to have on hand. It doesn’t move or bunch up under a cohesive bandage and the flexible and natural material can be easily cut or moulded to any size or shape, making it ideal for stable wraps, traveling and as a wound protection/ healing process. It even comes packaged in a mutton cloth bag!
The wrap can be purchased directly online and soon will be available through local equine and farm supplies stockists nationwide. Looking forward, AHD are looking to produce a smaller, thinner natural wool bandage for domestic animals such as dogs and cats, so watch this space.
